Healthy Missions is Downstream From a healthy Church
Jesus said, "Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest". When we examine evangelical churches in the west and the state of global missions, a profound crisis emerges. Despite the unprecedented number of missionaries, activities, conferences, and even money dedicated to missions, there's a palpable absence of spiritual fervor in evangelism within churches. But we must ask a few questions, do we desire to see Christ's name exalted among the nations? How did Jesus and the apostles reach the world? Did Jesus already give us the blueprint? Is the great commission really as simple as,
"Go into all the world and preach the Gospel" Mark 16:15
and
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Matt 28:19-20
Have we complicated things by inserting our mission into God's mission? How did the church reach the world in previous generations? At the heart of this crisis is a concerning observation: We all want to proclaim what we love, we do this in every facet of our lives, so why is there a seeming lack of desire in our churches (and in ourselves) to make Christ known to the world? Is there a lack of love for Christ in our hearts? Are we not seeing Christ as a glorious Savior. If so, why?
This documentary aims to delve into the crux of this crisis, pointing us back to a glorious Savior deserving of our utmost adoration and proclamation. Healthy missions is always downstream from a healthy church, therefore this documentary seeks to diagnose the problem at it's source, and calls us back to the simplicity of the great commission.
WHY SUPPORT THIS FILM
We are in need of a great reformation within the church in the west. We believe this is a much-needed work in our day, and we’re praying that the Lord uses this film to challenge, encourage, and equip the church to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
With that said, there is still a great deal of work that lies ahead in order to complete this film. I am an independent filmmaker with no Hollywood budget. In fact, up to this date, all filming has been done at my own expense. Completing this documentary will require many more countless hours of time, travel, resources, and expenses. I still plan on traveling to 3 countries to film interviews with Missionaries.
